Pair of small watercolors, each measuring 4¼" x 5" (visible areas), mounted in a single inner mat (visible area = 13" x 9½") which in turn is overlain by an off-white mat 20" x 16" and underlain by a similar size backing. Each watercolor is predominantly done in a soothing shade (mauve and dark blue), depicts a rural scene (Fence in a rainstorm; Rolling hills at night), and is outlined on the inner mat with a thick penciled border. It is signed ("M. Potter") on the right between the two watercolors by New York artist Maurice Potter and was probably done within the last 20 years or so. This unusual and interesting artwork is shrink-wrapped for protection and is in mint condition; in an appropriate frame it would be stunning.
