Many artists from around the world sent examples of their work to be exhibited at the World's Columbian Exposition held in 1892 and 1893 in Chicago, Illinois. George Barrie Co. published a series of prints in 1893 based on the submitted works; this photogravure from the series was made from the 1891 painting by the famous French artist Edouard Joseph Dantan, known for his genre and interior scenes.
